The End For Boko Haram? Nigeria Air Force Takes Them By Surprise, Invade Their Factory In Sambisa, See What Happened

Fighter jets of the Nigerian Air Force carryout airstrikes on a suspected Boko Haram workshop in Sambisa Forest. The operation took place after a surveillance aircraft observed some serviceable vehicles hidden under some trees at a previously abandoned Boko Haram vehicle workshop.

Two vehicles and other equipment at the workshop were destroyed by an Alpha Jet scrambled to attack the location. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says its Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation Lafiya Dole has destroyed some vehicles and neutralised some Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) at a suspected workshop in Sambisa Forest.

Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, the NAF director of public relations and information, made this known in a statement on Thursday, April 25, in Abuja, saying the operation took place on Wednesday, April 24, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

“The operation was conducted yesterday, April 24 , after a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform on a routine mission observed significant activities as well as some serviceable vehicles hidden under some trees at a previously abandoned BHT vehicle workshop.

“Accordingly, the ATF scrambled an Alpha Jet to attack the location.Overhead the target area, some of the BHT fighters were seen attempting to flee the location but were taken out by the Alpha Jet’s successful strikes, which also caused the destruction of two vehicles and other equipment at the workshop,” he said.

The spokesman said the NAF, operating in concert with surface forces, would sustain its operations to completely degrade the terrorists in the north-east.

Meanwhile, the chief of army staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, has said Boko Haram insurgents are collaborating with the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) to carry out attacks in Borno state.

TVC News reports that Buratai made the statement during a speech at the conference at the infantry corps of the Army, held at the military cantonment in Jaji, Kaduna state. The army chief said the Nigerian military under his watch watch will always be a step ahead of the group.

It will be recalled that the Nigeria Air Force, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola,  confirmed the bombing of the insurgents’ bases, said it was carried out by the Air Task Force of the Operation Lafiya Dole.

He said, “The operation is targeted at terror locations in the Lake Chad and Sambisa Forest in Borno State. Air strikes were carried out in Tumbun Rego, Sabon Tumbun and Tumbun Allura.

“Tumbun Rego, which is located about 140km North-East of Maiduguri, has been identified as a major logistics and communications base of the insurgents.

“Accordingly, the air force detailed F-7Ni and Alpha Jet aircraft to destroy the logistics and communications hubs. The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Abubakar, was also in Maiduguri, where he motivated the front-line personnel and obtained first-hand information on the operation.”
